Too many people make the mistake of waiting to visit a dentist until their tooth hurts. You might also believe that if there’s nothing bothering you, then there’s no point in making a dental appointment.
Aside from a throbbing tooth, here are four signs you need to schedule that appointment as soon as possible.
1. Bleeding Gums
Bleeding gums are so common that many people think that’s normal. This is actually a sign that your gums are inflamed from too much plaque bacteria. Your gums could be signaling that they have gingivitis, or it could be a sign of a much more serious form of periodontal disease.
2. Loose Tooth
A loose adult tooth is never normal! Teeth can become mobile as a result of advanced gum disease. You need to visit Dr. Lane as soon as possible if you notice a wiggle in your smile.
3. Crown or Filling Pops Out of Place
Dental restorations are meant to protect vulnerable parts of a tooth. Once lost, your tooth is open to sensitivity and infection. In fact, losing a filling or crown is often a sign that the tooth has already developed a new cavity.
4. Sensitivity to Sweets
Your tooth may not bother you at all until that moment you bite into a decadent slice of chocolate cake. The shock from coming in contact with sugar is a pretty sure sign that your tooth has a cavity.
If you notice any of these signs or anything else unusual about your smile, give our Wasilla office a call. Dr. Jason Lane would love to meet you and help you get back to smiling with comfort!
