Bad breath, or halitosis, is probably the ultimate social faux pas. Save face socially by following these four rules for sweet breath.
1. Drink Lots Of Water
Dry mouth leads to a proliferation of bacteria. All those germs can raise a big stink! Keeping your mouth hydrated is one of your first lines of defense in keeping halitosis at bay.
Tasty and refreshing beverages may be high in sugar, caffeine, and acids that can actually dry you out and damage your teeth. Swap out some of your favorite drinks for water as often as you can.
2. Add Some Spice To Your Smile
Natural herbs and spices are great ways to freshen breath and have been used by many cultures for centuries to do just that.
Chewing gum may contain sugar that’s just bad news for your teeth. To give your breath a sweet and clean scent after meals, opt to add things into your diet like:
- Fennel
- Cloves
- Mint leaves
- Parsley
- Cinnamon
- Cardamom
3. Brush Daily
Pure and simple, great oral hygiene is one of the best ways to keep your breath fresh. Letting plaque buildup for hours on end won’t do you any social favors! A quick rinse before you leave the house isn’t sufficient. Make regular brushing and flossing a solid part of your routine to maintain a healthy and sweet-smelling smile.
4. Visit A Dentist
Bad breath could be an indicator of something far more serious, especially if nothing seems to work to fight it. Visit Dr. Jason Lane for a smile evaluation to find out whether your bad breath struggles are due to a dental infection or gum disease.
